3 Month Check-In and Regimen

Hi guys thought I would just check in with you and give you update for the three month mark. I can’t believe it has been 12 weeks since I had a perm. So three months in and I have about 2-3 inches of natural hair (formerly known as new growth). I can already see a curl pattern and I really like it. I really have a hard time keeping my hands out of my hair. I guess I always thought that my natural hair would be all rough and feel like straw but it is so soft probably because I am actually taking care of it. Here are some picks of my progress:

I also thought I would share my current product regimen with you. I am really fighting my product junkie nature and only allowing myself to buy new things once I have used at least one bottle of something that I have :)

Products I’m using:

Shampoos: Renpure Organics My Pretty Hair is Parched, Giovanni Smooth as Silk

Deep conditioner: Dr Miracle's Damaged Hair Medicated Treatment

Leave in conditioner- Garnier Fructis Sleek and Shine

Moisturizers- Profectiv Mega Growth Oil, (occasionally as a sealer and always when taking down twists, braids, and bantu knots), Profectiv Mega Growth Lotion.

Oils- castor oil (occasionally as a pre-poo), olive oil (for sealing the hair after washing, nightly for sealing ends, and as a pre-poo), Vitamin e oil (occasionally as a pre-poo).

Protein treatment- Ion recontructor

Once a week- (full treatment) I get in the shower and shampoo my hair 3-4 times (twice w. Renpure and twice with Giovanni), then I put Herbal Essences Conditioner on and massage through hair. I rinse that out and then I put the Ion conditioner on my hair and finger comb hair to make sure it is distributed evenly through my hair. I leave this on while I go about my other shower tasks. Then I rinse out the conditioner and hand wring my hair. I do not towel dry but use a t-shirt to remove excess water, then I put deep conditioner on my hair for about 20-30 minutes with a shower cap on and sit under the dryer on a low heat setting. After that I rinse out the deep conditioner then immediately put in leave in conditioner followed by oil to seal in the moisture. After that I use whatever other styling products I have (I didn’t list all of these because I change them too frequently). Once all of the products are on, I plop my hair with a t-shirt anywhere from 10-30 minutes just depending on what I get into after that (or what Xavier gets into). After that my hair is fairly dry, and If I am not going anywhere then I will let my hair air dry the rest of the way. Otherwise, I will sit under a hooded dryer to move the drying process along. Once dry, I style my hair (typically flat iron, flat twist or bantu knot it and leave until morning or until I have somewhere to go). When taking down twists or knots I always put either olive oil or Mega Growth oil on my fingertips to help keep ends from being frizzy.

Mid-week- I do a trimmed down (and much less time consuming) version of this routine where I co-wash my hair with the herbal essences and ion conditioners and immediately move to the leave in conditioner etc…

Every other week- I use protein reconstructor treatment. On this day, I do the full regimen with the added reconstructor for 10 minutes in between the conditioner and deep conditioner.

Nightly- I use a dime size portion of olive oil or Mega Growth oil to seal my ends and keep my hair soft. Occasionally instead of this I may use the Mega Growth lotion to moisturize my hair.
